Chilean poet Yanko Gonzalez


Join us for an extraordinary opportunity - celebrated Chilean poet Yanko Gonzalez will be reading his poetry, in Spanish, here at the Penn Book Center on Thursday, October 19th at 6 pm. He will be joined by translator and interpreter Dana Khromov, who will read his work in English. A discussion, in Spanish and English, will follow.

Yanko Gonzalez, born in Santiago de Chile in 1971, is currently one of the most prominent poets in Spanish and the author of three collections of poetry: Metales Pesados (1998), Alto Volta (2007), and Elabuga (2011). In 2007, he received the Critics Award in Chile for his work. His poems have been translated into French, English, and German. 

Dana Khromov is a writer, editor and translator currently in her third year of the PhD program in Hispanic Studies. She is interested in the centrality of desire and the body as a site of politics in contemporary Latin American literature and cinema.
